The short version (for kids and grown-ups)
- You don't need an account. We never ask for your real name, email, phone number, address or photos.
- Your progress is saved on your own device.
- The game shows family-friendly adverts between levels. They are set up for children: no personalised (targeted) ads.
- Grown-ups can buy things like "Remove Ads" through Google Play. Google handles the payment, not us.
- We never sell anyone's personal data.
- Grown-ups (13 or over) can choose to sign up for our parents' email news on the website. Children under 13 are asked to get a grown-up instead.
1. Who we are
Jungle Juice is a puzzle game made and published by Guy Whitwell in the United Kingdom. For this policy, Guy Whitwell is the data controller for any personal data the game handles. Contact details are at the end.
2. No account, no sign-up
Jungle Juice works without an account or login. The game does not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, contacts, precise location, photos, or voice recordings. The only email address we ever hold is one a grown-up chooses to give us for the optional parents' news on our website (see section 12).
3. What is saved on your device
The game stores the following only on your device (in the app's local storage). It is not sent to us:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Level progress, stars, scores, coins, gems and boosters | So you can carry on where you left off |
| A nickname (made up, e.g. "Swift Parrot") and a flag you pick | Shown on your own score card and practice leaderboard |
| Settings (sound, music, vibration, full screen, daily reminder on/off) | To remember your choices |
| Which tips you've seen, and how many levels you've finished since the last advert | To show tips once and to space adverts out fairly |
| Whether "Remove Ads" has been bought, and the Google Play order reference of each purchase | So you don't see adverts, and so a purchase is only ever added once |
| Daily Challenge streak, Sticker Book stickers, seasonal event progress (e.g. candy corn) and costumes | So your collection and rewards are kept |
| How many times you've played and won, and when we last asked "Enjoying the jungle?" | So the rating question is shown rarely (never in your first session) and stops once answered |
Daily reminder (Android app only, off by default). If a grown-up switches on Settings → Daily reminder, the app asks Android for permission to show notifications and schedules at most one gentle reminder a day (around 5pm) about the daily treasure and Daily Challenge. It is created on the device itself, no data is sent anywhere, and it can be switched off in Settings or in Android's notification settings at any time.
You can delete all of this at any time with Settings → Reset progress, or by clearing the app's data or uninstalling it. Please choose a nickname that isn't your real name.
4. Adverts (Google AdMob)
The free version of Jungle Juice shows adverts using Google AdMob, provided by Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC. Adverts only appear between levels (never during play) and can be skipped after a few seconds. Sharing or watching adverts never gets you a reward you'd otherwise miss out on.
Because the game is designed for children as well as families, we set AdMob up as follows:
- Ad requests are marked as child-directed (tagForChildDirectedTreatment) and/or for users under the age of consent, in line with the Google Play Families Policy.
- Only non-personalised adverts are requested: no interest-based or remarketing ads.
- The maximum ad content rating is set to "G" (suitable for general audiences), and only Families-certified ad sources are used.
The Android app does not use the Android advertising ID (the AD_ID permission is removed), and it does not collect your name, email, contacts, photos or precise location.
To deliver adverts, limit how often they show and prevent fraud, AdMob may process limited technical information such as the device's IP address (used for approximate, country-level location), device type, operating system and app version. For child-directed requests Google limits this processing; see Google's information at policies.google.com/technologies/ads and AdMob's guidance on child-directed treatment. If you buy "Remove Ads", no adverts are requested.
5. In-app purchases (Google Play Billing)
Purchases (for example "Remove Ads" or gem packs) are handled by Google Play Billing. Google processes your payment details under the Google Privacy Policy; we never see or store card details. We only receive a confirmation that a purchase was made so the game can unlock it. Purchases need the Google account holder (a grown-up) to approve them, and we recommend turning on purchase approval in Google Play's parental controls.
6. Leaderboards (Google Play Games – planned)
Today the leaderboard is a practice board stored on your device. In a future update we may offer worldwide leaderboards through Google Play Games Services. If so, it will be optional; scores would be linked to your Play Games gamer profile (a gamer name and avatar chosen in Play Games, not in our game) and handled by Google under its privacy policy. We will update this policy before that feature goes live.
7. Sharing your score
The "Share your score" button is behind a grown-up check (a sum). It makes a picture on your device showing the game name, your nickname, level and score. It is only sent anywhere if you choose an app in your phone's share menu. Sharing gives no rewards.
8. What we don't do
- We do not sell or rent personal data, and we don't share it for advertising profiling.
- We do not use our own analytics or tracking.
- There is no chat, and players cannot message each other.
9. Children and the UK GDPR
We follow the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code. We keep data to a minimum, keep settings private by default, and don't use nudge techniques to get children to share data. Where any personal data is processed (for example the limited technical data used for child-directed ads), our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in funding a free game in a privacy-protective way, or consent where the law requires it.
Your rights: you (or a parent or guardian) can ask to access, correct or delete personal data, object to or restrict processing, and ask for data portability. Because we hold almost nothing about you ourselves, most of this is handled by resetting or uninstalling the game; for Google's processing you can also contact Google. You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, but please contact us first so we can try to help.
10. International transfers and keeping data
Google may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards (such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum). We don't keep any personal data on our own servers (the optional parents' news list is held by our email provider — see section 12). Data on your device stays there until you reset or uninstall the game.
11. This website and the free browser demo
playjunglejuice.com does not use cookies, analytics or adverts. The free browser demo at playjunglejuice.com/demo/ saves its progress only in your browser's local storage, shows no adverts and has no purchases. Our website host may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security for a short time.
12. Parents' news (email newsletter)
Our website has an optional sign-up for occasional news about Jungle Juice (new levels, seasonal events, the Google Play launch). It is meant for parents and carers.
- Age check first: the form asks for your year of birth before anything else. If you are under 13, the form hides the email box and asks you to get a grown-up to sign up instead. The year of birth is only used in your browser for this check — it is never sent to us or stored.
- Consent: you must tick an (unticked) box to say you are 13 or over and happy to get Jungle Juice news. Our lawful basis is your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)).
- What we keep: only your email address, the date you signed up and confirmed, and whether you opened or unsubscribed from our emails (standard information our email service records).
- Double opt-in: after signing up you get a confirmation email. You are only added to the list once you click the link in it. If you don't confirm, the unconfirmed address is deleted by the email service.
- Our email service: the list is held for us by an email newsletter provider (MailerLite or Brevo) acting as our data processor under a data processing agreement. They may store data in the EU/UK or elsewhere under appropriate safeguards. We never sell or share the list with anyone else, and we don't use it for advertising.
- Unsubscribe any time: every email has an unsubscribe link, or email us. We then delete your address from the list (the provider may keep a suppression record so you are not emailed again).
- Under-13s: if we learn that a child under 13 has signed up, we will delete their email address straight away. Parents can ask us to do this at guywhitwell79@gmail.com.
- How long: we keep your address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until we stop sending news.
Until the newsletter service is switched on, the form opens an email to us instead; we then add your address by hand only after you confirm by replying to our confirmation email.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for important changes, show a notice in the game.
